Two movable display modules and two benches together form a permanent supporting infrastructure for the space of Achim Lengerer/Scriptings. While one module serves the archive of Scriptings' previous publications, the second part as a movable wall assists the presentations of publications, open work processes and events with guests and cooperation partners.
The artistic work articulates a flexible form that is meant to support the working processes of Scriptings and the different constellations around his artistic publishing praxis, shaped by joint production, cooperation, assistance and dialogue.
The display is an extension and ongoing work with the material from the exhibition architecture of IDEAL Forum (19.05.21 - 19.10.22) at Kunstraum IDEAL in Leipzig. Scriptings/Achim Lengerer intervened in the exhibition with the project Einer Filmspur zuhören oder "les enfants ont des oreilles" (12.03.-11.04.22).
IDEAL Forum was an episodic exhibition project that posed questions about infrastructural conditionalities of an assembly, a community and its discourses within a display situation. In an ongoing process, the spatial setting of the exhibition was activated, transformed, appropriated and reinterpreted in several episodes by different artists and cooperating art spaces. An experimental field between autonomy and interdependence emerged, in which hierarchies dissolved, authorships interpenetrated, and the infrastructure of the "forum" was continuously unlearned, rehearsed, discarded, and renegotiated in a collaborative process. In the context of self-organized offspace - as platform and para-institution - the exhibition served as a model for investigations of dominant aspects of platform design and possibilities of a subversive, activist infrastructure.
The exhibition project IDEAL Forum was initiated by Gregor Peschko. The source material for the display situation at IDEAL Forum as well as for Display for Scriptings was a replica of the entrance counter of the MdbK Leipzig in the installation EINGANG ENTRANCE (Gregor Peschko, MdbK, 2018).
