intervention, Galerie für Gegenwartskunst -Kabuff / E-Werk, Freiburg
The intervention LEVIATHAN took place in the great hall of the E-Werk in Freiburg, which is currently used by many artists as a studio and storageroom. The several parts of the installation, like the banner, the poster, the text sheet and the promotion video on a screen integrated in the sculptural reception desk, derived from found-footage Youtube-videos showing the art installation „Leviathan“ of Anish Kapoor in the Grand Palais in Paris. All the video material had been filmed by visitors inside Kapoor´s installation, which was basically consisting of a walkable gigantic translucent red bubble inside the Grand Palais.
By using the spectacular event of the installation to produce their privat narratives, the visitors decomposed and displaced Kapoors installation through the perspectives of the videomaterial. Through the transfer of the videos to the E-Werk, these scattered informations developed new reference points within the space.
