The ethnological museum in Leipzig invited students from the HGB Leipzig to intervene in their permanent exhibition. On this occasion, for "FRISCHER WIND" („Fresh Breeze“) 16 ventilators were installed within the exhibition rooms.
Climate is an essential as well as fragile dimension of the museum and typifies the artificiality of a museum-like area as a self-contained cosmos. The produced light airflow, that would not have been recognizable outside of the museum, displays the institutional hermeticism and at the same time reveals the vulnerability of a museum and its fear of disturbance. The uncertain function and the ambiguous distinction between intervention and inventory, raises the question on role and function of artistic critic within the context of museums.
